        1. General and specific objectives of the course


        To introduce students into the special language of the law, based upon their pereliminary general training in the English language. The purpose is to train experts who, after Hungary’s accession, are able to read and interpret laws, legal regulations, bulletins, contracts and other legal documents. To introduce students into the vocabulary, formal-structural characteristics of such documents. Out of the four skills, reading comprehension is given most of the emphasis.


        2. Contents of the course

          The classification of law: Law of court, law of property, family law, contract law, constitutional law, contract law, law of succession, administrative law, company law

          People in the law: solicitors, barristers, Inns of Court, judges, Lord Chancellor, High Court

          The American legal system, the American lawyer

          The Constitution. Its sources, its funcitons.

          The electoral systems, political parties

          The decision-making process of the EU

        8.  

          The legal conditions of acquiring or losing citizenship. Nationality law. Minority law.

          Contracts. Its elements, types and parties. (Text interpretation)

        10.  

          Intellectual Propery Law. Patent law. Trademarks. Copyright.

        11.  

          Taxation Law. Federal taxation. Local taxation. Taxation of corporations. Tax refund.

        12.  

          Insurances.

          Corporation law. Limited Liability Corporation. (Text interpretation)
