1. General and specific objectives of the course
The foundation of the EU’s environmental policy is sustainable development. It means that it is not possible to deal with environmental problems separately from their social and economic circumstances. We wish to reinforce this notion with the help if this course.
2. Contents of the course
Crossroads of the EU’s politics. Why do we want sustainable development? Indicators of sustainable development. The global citizen. The role of culture. Training and education in the service of sustainable development. School as one of the places of sustainable social development. The ecological footprint. Sustainable towns.
3. In-semester evaluation
Processing and developing one of the topics set forth in the book. A comprehensive seminar paper.
4. Required external field practice
A visit to the sustainability experiment at Gömörszőlős (excursion in the 2nd semester).
