1. General and specific objectives of the course
            
To show students the principles and psychological foundations of tolerance, the questions of power and identity in Europe. To reveal the characteristics of categorization, stereotypes, prejudice, conformity and adaptation, based on the events of the 1920s and 1930s in Germany. To show the socio-psycological roots of prejudice and discrimination of today’s Hungary.
            
2. Contents of the course
            
An individual in the society: own group, creative role fulfillment, stereotypes, conformity and identity. The notion of tolerancie. Nationalism, power and identity in Europe, the emergence and socio-psychological characteristics of racism. The psychological roots of evil, pogroms in Europe. The holocaust and the national amnesia. Political opposition as a civilian way of life. Autonomy. The conscience of the world.
            
3. In-semester evaluation
            
Preparing a collection of materials that shows the changes of the student’s own personality. The book is to be used as a guideline.
