1. General and specific objectives of the course
To introduce students into the history of the public, vocational, secondary and higher education of Europe, the unity, the differences within and characteristics of the system. To introduce students into general fuatures that characterize the whole of the educational system of the EU.
2. Contents of the course
How the theory and practice of European education have taken shape: the effects of Protestantism; enlightenment; the apperance of mass education; the structure of education in the 20th century. The public education system of the EU and its characteristics: the EU as an educational model; compulsory education, the unity of kindergarten and school; the 12-year school; the duration of compulsory education; education and GDP. The emergence of the European model of higher education: the theory of medieval university; university ion the New Age; the national characteristics of universities; university in the 20th century; higher education systems in the EU member states; contents and characteristics of vocational training in the EU.
